§ 6-37. Redemption of impounded dog.

  • The owner of a dog seized under this article may redeem the dog within seven days. If the dog is wearing a license tag the owner shall redeem the dog within 12 days. The owner shall pay the village clerk the sum of $10.00 as the cost of the seizure for the first offense and $25.00 as the cost of the seizure for any offense thereafter. If not redeemed in the time specified herein, the owner shall forfeit all title to the dog and the dog shall be sold or destroyed by the dog control officer or such representative of the commissioner of agriculture and markets.
